Sealed the MacBook up again, left out some screws, opened it up again! :) Had a better look at the drive and the surrounding unit and figured that pressure from above Loading... This started happening just a few days after the computer ran its warranty period. If the drive still produces strange sounds, take the MacBook to an authorized repair center or computer shop. Not sure why it seems to be such a mystery to people that optical drives fail, and fail often, when they do fail so often.
