Next, is a key falsely detected in the ignition? I dont do anything to my bmw untill I see what you guys have to say first. Maybe I'm being pessimistic but I don't think it's too surprising. In many cases just performing the key sync procedure will fix the problem, but, why did it loose sync in the first place.

If you can then you just have a burnt fuse. Something else is a problem. I am thinking that the sudden nature of the problem and the fact that it is with both keys is a result of a fuse failure or (sponsored by some reading I thought it was a battery issue but looks like everything is back in working order. If the key won't program to the car and it's not the battery then it's likely the FZV antenna amp, GM5 module or some other obscure problem with the car. Doing this with just one remote will cause any others to stop working. But, I don't think I am doing too bad considering I have only had it for 9 days......1 of which, it was in the shop getting a gasket replaced.
