When you have a partition on your harddisk (say on your sda), than the partitions are numbered. What particular LiveCD or "virtual OS" did you want to test with it? Just one observation, in order to boot XP it needs that device points to "BOOT" instead of C:\ I created the BCD file on XP in Fusion. But when I click on the the icon start EasyBSD, it says failed to load the application.
I'm afraid to keep reinstalling XP. upon first start, the tool will by no means ask to repair a boot install for vista. If this is going to complicate the current situation; then I can skip it. When I finally got around to it, I reset the bootloader in EasyBCD to Windows XP and the computer did reboot jut fine. Well, I agree with the need for a Warning at the very least, and a way to return to the original config. My system got hit with a fake antivirus malware program dispite MS Secutity Essentials and SuperAntiSpyware installed. If it doesn't do the trick, move on to Type 2. Other devices that are not hard disks (like CDs) are called names like cd0 or dvd0 or cdrom. Name it whatever you want (Microsoft Windows XP)5. It's a year and a half old, and came with vista basic originally installed. Some computers also let you press F8 to pick where you want to boot from – you may use that option instead.

Or you've installed Windows Vista/7/8, and it failed to install its bootloader to the MBR, but you can still boot into Windows XP. You may see a dialog like the one below asking you for your boot drive - pick the letter of your Windows Vista drive, then hit OK to continue. What I'd like to know is if I install the Easybcd's bootloader in XP will I set the the vista drive as "C" or do I follow the instructions above to
